About Hands on Community

Hands on Community is a service oriented non-profit organization dedicated to bringing a sense of empowerment and belonging to those who may not be able to otherwise seek, or even be aware of it.

Drumming sparks joy in the individual. In a large group, it brings a feeling of community and teamwork like few things can. It is the goal of Hands on Community to offer this experience to special interest groups through drumming and related activities.

These groups include:

• youth detention centers
• those with developmental and learning disabilities
• terminally ill
• homeless
• children in the foster care system

Group drumming, drum-making workshops, performances and community festivals are some of the many ways these goals are met.

Hands on Community is bringing smiles, laughter, learning and teamwork to those who need a deeper connection to the people around them and the communities in which they live.
